The desire to have a child could be a physically and emotionally challenging journey for women and men who are experiencing fertility issues. Pregnancy is the result of a complex combination of factors and events. With any complex system issues may arise that make what would otherwise seem like a relatively simple process far more challenging. When pregnancy doesn’t happen right away you may experience heightened anxiety and stress which further exacerbates the situation. There are many lifestyle suggestions that may be implemented to maximize your chances of conceiving, or a more in-depth approach may be required and seeking the guidance of a fertility specialist may be advisable.

Helping Women and Men understand the challenges of fertility and providing individualized approaches to achieving pregnancy is the goal of Dr. Karen Parmar ND, Co-founder of Integrated Health Clinic. Season’s @ Integrated Health Clinic is here to support Dr. Parmar and her patients in their efforts to achieve desired results. Click to visit the Integrated Health Clinic site to learn more.

Wikipedia defines Menopause: Menopause refers to the time of cessation of a woman's reproductive ability. Menopause literally means the "end of monthly cycles", from the Greek word pausis (cessation) and the root men- (month). Menopause is an event that typically occurs in women in midlife, during their late 40s or early 50s, and it signals the end of the fertile phase of a woman's life.

Women of the world define Menopause: Hell manifested as:

  • Irregular periods
  • Vaginal dryness
  • Hot flashes
  • Night sweats
  • Sleep problems
  • Mood changes
  • Weight gain and slowed metabolism
  • Thinning hair and dry skin
  • Loss of breast fullness

Simply put, starting at perimenopause, schedule regular visits with your doctor for preventive health care and to address any medical concerns. Continue getting these appointments during and after menopause. Preventive health care can help significantly in the management of Menopause. And remember, Season’s @ Integrated Health Clinic can support your supplementary and nutrition needs as you navigate this new cycle of life.

A postnatal period is the period beginning immediately after the birth of a child and extending for about six weeks. It is the time after birth, a time in which the mother's body, including hormone levels and uterus size, returns to a non-pregnant state. The non-pregnant state does not always translate to “normal”. There are many potential post-natal challenges faced by women including: Soreness, afterpains, urination & bowel issues, breast milk, swollen breast, sore nipples, cut recovery, anxiety, baby blues, marital stress, and even depression.

Prenatal care refers to the care of a pregnant woman before delivery of the infant. This includes monitoring and management of the patient during pregnancy to prevent complications of pregnancy and promote a healthy outcome for both mother and infant. Most pregnancies are perfectly healthy, and moms-to-be glide through them with nothing more severe than a few bouts of nausea and the occasional backache. However, some women do develop more serious health problems that can threaten their own and their baby's well-being. These can include morning sickness, heartburn, fatigue, frequent urination, constipation, high blood pressure and gestational diabetes.

Under the direction of your Doctor, Season’s @ Integrated Health Clinic is here to assist with prevention and to help provide product in support of treatment recommendations.

Seek guidance...experience calm

Our bodies hormones can be likened to the Canadian olympic rowing team where, under the direction of the coxswain and lead of the stroke oar, the unified crew propels the craft through the water with ultimate precision. However, on a day where one of the oars is out of sink, the entire crew is thrown into chaos and the craft flounders.

Our bodies are no different. Hormone imbalance can generate disturbances including:

  • Irregular/absent periods
  • Weight gain
  • Irritability/moodiness
  • Skin issues
  • Hair loss/unusual hair growth
  • Infertility
  • Fatigue/loss of energy

It’s important to listen to your body and acknowledge changes that may be occurring. So often the negative changes we experience are related to hormonal imbalance. It is equally important to seek guidance when issues become severe or persist. The Doctors of Integrated Health Clinic are dedicated to supporting men and women through midlife’s variety of concerns, including hormone balance. Their objective, as is that of Season’s @ Integrated Health Clinic, is to promote self care, leading to longevity and quality of life.
